june 26- dog lead

This was actually today because I can, but I will count it for the 25th since i am behind.  I just gave my next door neighbor a tie out for his dogs.  its the long vinyl coated metal cord with latches on the end .  he usually keeps his big headed pit bull on too short of a leash because Beau is a runner.  off the leash he darts straight for the street.  This will give him some space and freedom to hang out while they are outside hanging out instead of on the 6 foot lead he is on now.

June 24, 25- 2 shirts

 Hillary gave this green shirt to me and realistically i will never wear it.  plus i am minimizing so off it goes!  Then, while doing laundry I realized Scott was going to lose an item as well.  I did give him the chance to say good-bye.  He hugged it close and wept quietly for a bit before i gently untucked it from him arms and placed it in the trash.

June 23- mattress cover

So, when we got back from vacay I had to wash the sheets because my asshole dog pissed on the bed.  I suppose I deserve it for making him wear outfits like this.  So, once i peeled the sheets off we had thos weird bed liner thing they guilted us into when we bought the bed.  It was water proof and apparently it decided to give out because the plasticy lining was all peely and weird.  I probably dryed it or didn;t follow the care instructions but it was super weird.  Of course the dogs loved it once it was on the floor and there was a turf war between them all.  But eventually the novelty wore off and to the trash it went!

June 20, 21, 22 more basement junk

 One mug and 2 tiny plates.  Who uses saucers anymore?  I have an amazing stash in the basement for times like this when i just can;t let go of items.  I think i may need to hit the craft room soon.

June 14-19 Even on vacay i got rid of 4 items

 My sister likes these colors so i gave it to her.  Then she needed a duffle bag for the plane because she bought a ton of stuff and is a heavy packer.  So I gave her this YMCA bag.  Its a nice bag and a good size but really, I don't need it. 

Other things that disappeared on vacay were a sheet and a towel.  I'm cool with that even if the towel was my wooby towel that I have had since about 1983. 

June 13- Christmas Gift from last year

This is one of those gorgeous framed pictures that you plug in and it lights up.  I collect ambient lighting so I fought hard to get this gem at the white elephant party.  Now, it must go.  i have a feeling Phantom Troublemaker might want it so he gets first dibs.  If anyone else wants consideration then they should write a haiku.  None of you will write one so I don't feel i need any more rules to accompany this item.

cat box june 11-12

i have no cat anymore.  So I have given both cat carriers to my friends.  Robyn and Hillary are the lucky winners!  Robyn's was way better but she asked first AND she has 2 little baby kitties!

Sunday June 10- chair breakage

I JUST got this chair for work.  i actually got 2.  They are kind of modern and cool and would work as a guest chair in anyone's office.  Then i went and stood on it.  Well, with the angle i was reaching and the design of the chair it completely fell apart and i went boom.  This is an AWESOME bruise on the back/inside of my thigh by the way.  Its about 5 inches.  I predict it will get a little bigger before it starts healing.  Oh and it looks a lot darker in real life.

Saturday June 9- duvet cover?

I don;t know why this was in the basement but judging by all of the spider cocoons and stains i am going to call it ruined.  i tossed it in the trash.  Seriously, i have no idea why this was on the work table but it has been there FORever.  I really am in need of a housekeeper.

Junk Mail cleanup

Wow, I just went through my yahoo email and had 19 pages or so of emails.  This is the address for ALL of my sign-ups.  I can neglect it for weeks and probably be okay.  Fab.com, the coupon sites (which i am also breaking up with), the sale sites like Loft, Jcrew, etc.- all of these go there.  So I just went through and deleted a TON of stuff.  I'm down to 4 pages.  FOUR.  Also, I just unsubscribed from a ton of crap.  I'll get rid of more as they come in but wow.  This is a really good feeling to be able to find important emails as well as to just not have to see all that shit each time i log in.  I mean seriously, the great american cookie company sends 3 emails a week.  I only signed up for the 20% coupon!

Yard Sales

I have been trying to avoid yard sales and thrift stores.  Well, really any opportunity to spend money is avoided.  As you have seen I have a LOT of crap in my house (though most of it is scott's).  I also have everything in used form.  My couch, the table, chairs, coffee table, appliances...everything.  and not used like this is a cool antique.  Just busted old shit.  I think the bed is the only furniture item we bought new (and our asshole dog miyagi spent 6 months pissing on the side of it).  Well, I wish i could go get brand new stuff.  Everything from Crate and Barrel or CB2.  All of it.  But i can't.  See, a long long time ago credit cards were handed out like candy.  And i got some.  and for the most part i was responsible, but i 20 dollared myself to death.  And i went to Target- a LOT.  So now i must suffer.  20,000 total in credit card debt sucks my soul dry.  So i have to avoid buying things.  Any things.  I get no things.  None. 

Today, there was a huge ass yard/estate sale full of mid-century modern crap.  I say crap because i can't have it and yes, some was crap.  I saw lots of cool stuff but luckily it was priced like she knew exactly what she had.  But overall I found that going to the thrift store and yard sales makes me spend money on stuff i really don;t neeed.  I see tons of cool stuff but I can live without it.  Sure i could scoop up some of the awesome finds and sell them but really, who wants to waste their time for 5 extra bucks?  not me.

June 7-8

So yesterday i did a general cleanup.  I threw away all of the busted dog toys and things that the lawmower ate up and spit out.  I got rid of the poison ivy with poison spray (that'll teach it!).  I finally put diatomaceous earth on all my ant mounds so that gets rid of them!  The messed up door mat went to the curb.  We tried to make it say I am so happy you are dead but it looked busted.  I don't have any pictures though.  sorry.  But I'm counting this as 2 days worth. 

June 5-6 a table and some pots and pans

Can you believe no one took the table?  Its rough but i think a fun color of spray paint would have made it cute for a while.  But I guess people have too many tables and not enough pots and pans.  These were terrifying.  Maybe they'll get sold for scrap by the lucky person who collected them.  I didn;t even bother to donate them because they were so scary (and embarrassing).  Oh, and these ALSO came from the scary basement cleaning of the weekend.  I'm afraid i will have to move on from the basement soon and start on the attic.  I can't bear to think about attacking the regular rooms of the house right now.

June 4 Scary booze stuff from scott's uncle

This is exactly how i found it.  In the basement.  It was a really cool bottle but screw it, I'm not trying to open some sort of scary home made wine or liquor and drain the bottle.  Nope.  Scott's uncle made it like 3 years ago.  It has tape over the cork and just looks spooky to me.  One day Scott's going to get really mad when he realizes all the things i have thrown away without asking.

June 1-3, a bike, a pillow, a shelf

 Everybody's workin' for the weekend!  More basement cleaning and I have come up with these items.  These will count for the whole weekend and then i can take a tiny break and maybe actually vaccuum instead of scavenge for crap in my house to get rid of.  You have no idea how long some of this takes.  Oh, while wandering aimlessly through the basement i did find the lid to my beloved Tupperware pitcher from when i was like 7.  My mom would be shocked to know it is still in the family.  I'll take a picture this weekend maybe.

Thursday

Sarah read my Tarot the other day.  Apparently a lot of cards were reversed or as i put it upside-down.  I was most impressed with one of the cards that meant i was letting go of possessions and material wealth.  Yep, I am!  So now i say these things are true!  A lot of the stuff was vague enough that it can be applied to a lot of stuff but it was really neat to have done!
